Artist statement:
Studio’s photos are considered as a historical document, which shows individualism, social character- istics, clothing and costumes of a nation in anthropology and historical studies. Tendency to repetition and monotony is the characteristic of these types of photos. Repetition and mo- notony in these photos are the result of reality of today’s life which has rooted in manner of perception and viewpoint of each individual toward life and effect of community regulations.
Photography occurrences which happened during Pahlavi era affected by influence of magazines, beginning of western modernism and powers regnant on social space. In this era footprints of imitation appears little by little. Imitation of western portrait photographers, which its interest specially took place between Iranian photographers intreats and their customers has come through cinema and European imported journals.We can see its samples in Kerman studios photos.
Following detection of apparent similarity and imitative which recorded in Kerman’s studios photos and trying to present these individuals in the presntation of social media which rooted from collective thinking, I start a new photo installation.These photo’s presentation has placed away from today’s fashion styles,is based on loyalty to works originality in a horizontal frame which represent inertia, silence and calmness of Kermanian in history ,has happened in a way which shows a family’s feel- ing. It seems all the individuals who have recorded are from one class and family, so I have named it Kermanian family.
